class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alabama (5,024,294), Montgomery (200,586), Huntsville (215,052)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The white stucco brick capitol was originally completed in 1851.&nbsp; It has undergone numerous remodeling and expansions over the years both internally and externally.&nbsp; It is located on Bainbridge Street at Dexter Avenue.&nbsp; Interstate Highway 85 is 7 blocks south of the building.&nbsp; Barachias Holt provided the original designs in Greek Revival.&nbsp; The major supporting structure is the 1994 Supreme Court building.&nbsp; The state was officially created as the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> state on December 14, 1819 from Alabama Territory which came from the Mississippi Territory, West Florida, and Native American lands.&nbsp; The state\u2019s name comes from the river named for the Native American word meaning \u201cclearers of the thicket.\u201d&nbsp; Montgomery is named for Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery.&nbsp; Birmingham is named for the city in England.&nbsp; St. Stephens, Huntsville, Cahaba, and Tuscaloosa served as the capital until 1846 when Montgomery took over.&nbsp; Mount Cheaha in Clay County is the highest point and sea level on the Gulf coast is the lowest point.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alabama government, in the Executive, consists of a Governor, a Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Education Superintendent, and Secretary of Agriculture and Industries.&nbsp; There are 35 Senators and 105 Representatives in the Legislative.&nbsp; Nine Supreme Court Justices, Five Civil Appeals Judges, and Five Criminal Appeals Judges serve Alabama in the Judicial.&nbsp; Alabama is located in southeastern United States.&nbsp; The geographic center is in Chilton County 12 miles southwest of Clanton.&nbsp; The state is surrounded clockwise by Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, and Mississippi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area is 52420 square miles.&nbsp; It is 30<sup>th<\/sup> largest state in the country.&nbsp; It is the 24<sup>th<\/sup> most populated state in the country.&nbsp; It has a density of 95.8 persons per square mile making it 25<sup>th<\/sup> in the country.&nbsp; Major rivers include the Tennessee, the Alabama, the Conecuh, the Chattahoochee, and the Cahaba.&nbsp; The capital is located in the southeastern quarter of the state.&nbsp; The largest city is in the northern fourth of the state.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
