Juab County (11,778), Nephi (6,442)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The red\/brown brick Classical Revival courthouse was constructed in 1923.  The courthouse is on Main Street at 200 North Street.  Main Street is Interstate Highway 15 Business in this part of the town.  The architect is unknown for this original high school building.  It was converted into the courthouse in 1981 using the designs of Dell S. Ashworth and Homer H. Horton.  A Justice Center was added in 2014.  The county was formed on March 3, 1852 as the 9th<\/sup> county.  Eureka had an 1892 courthouse and Nephi had an 1893 courthouse.  The county\u2019s name is Native American for \u201cthirsty valley.\u201d  Nephi is named for a Mormon prophet.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juab County government consists of a sheriff, an attorney, a treasurer, an assessor, an auditor, and a clerk (executive).  It has 3 Commissioners (legislative.)  Fourteen District Court Judges and Fourteen Juvenile Court Judges serve Juab, Millard, Utah, and Wasatch counties (judicial.)  The county is on the western border with Nevada.  Salt Lake City, Utah is northeast and Las Vegas, Nevada is southwest of the county.  The county center is 43.9 miles West of Nephi nearer Jericho.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Tooele, Utah, Sanpete, and Millard counties and Nevada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area of the county is 3392 square miles.  It is 10 out of 29 in the state.  It ranks 20 out of 29 in population in the state.  It has a density of 3.5 persons per square mile making it 18 out of 29 in the state.  Juab County has 89.8% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Interstate Highway 15 passes north to south in the eastern part of the county from Utah County to Millard County.  United States Highway 6 enters from Utah County, northeast, and exits into Millard County, south.  The county resembles a wrench facing south.  Nephi is located in the northeast quarter of the county.  Nephi is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 54.7% of the county population.  The county is pronounced JOO-AB.  The county seat is pronounced NEE-FIE.  This county is in the Provo-Orem Metropolitan Statistical Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
