The white wooden Neo-Classical building was constructed in 1903. It is located on Maine Street between A Street and Williams Avenue. Maine Street is United States Highway 95 in this part of the town. Ben Leon is the building designer. The building was enlarged in 1974 and an Administrative Center was built in 1999. Churchill County was established on November 25, 1861 as an original county (2nd county.) Bucklands (1861), La Plata (1864), Stillwater (1868), and Fallon (1903) have all served as county seat. It is named for Mexican War hero General Sylvester Churchill. The county seat is named for settler Michael Fallon.

United States Highway 95 enters joined with Interstate Highway 80 from Pershing County, splits and exits south to Mineral County. Fallon is in the southwest quarter of the county. Fallon is the county seat and the largest city since it is the only incorporated city. It is 36.5% of the county population. The county seat is pronounced FAL-ON. This county is in the Fallon Micropolitan Statistical Area.
