The Modern red and tan masonry building was constructed in 2000. It is at the intersection of Center and West streets. Wisconsin State Highway 26 is Main Street in the town, one block to the east. Stubenrauch Architects and Kimme & Associates combined on the designed. The 1937 courthouse now serves as the Administrative Building. There were also 1878 and 1937 courthouses in Juneau, the only county seat. The county was founded on January 1, 1836 as an original county (7th county.) Dodge County is named for Governor Henry Dodge. He is also the namesake for the county seat of Iowa County. The county seat was named for settler Paul Juneau.
Dodge County government consists of a sheriff and 33 Supervisors. Four Circuit Court Judges and Four Municipal Court Judges serve Dodge County. The county is in the southeast part of the state. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is southeast and Green Bay, Wisconsin is northeast of the county. The county center is in Juneau .3 miles North of the city center. The county is surrounded clockwise by Fond du Lac, Washington, Waukesha, Jefferson, Dane, Columbia, and Green Lake counties.

It has a density of 102.1 persons per square mile making it 21 out of 72 in the state. Dodge County has 63.6% of its population in its incorporated areas. United States Highway 151 enters the county from the north, Fond du Lac County, and exits to the southwest, Columbia County. The county is a rectangle. Juneau is located near the center of the county. Beaver Dam is in the northwest quarter of the county. Juneau is the county seat and Beaver Dam is the largest city. Juneau is 3.0% of the county population while Beaver Dam is 18.7% of the county population. The county seat is pronounced JUE-NOE. This county is in the Beaver Dam Micropolitan Statistical Area.
