The brick and metal building in Nenana built in 2010 serves Denali Borough for court requirements.  A borough building is located in Healy.  The borough gets its name from the Native American name for Mount McKinley.  The borough seat is named for a local creek.  Denali Borough was formed on December 7, 1990 as the 15th borough. 

Denali Borough government consists of a sheriff, financial director, a mayor, district attorney, and a clerk (executive).  It has 7 assembly members (legislative.)  Four Superior Judges and Four District Judges serve the Fourth Judicial District which includes the Denali Borough (judicial.)  A sheriff serves the Denali Borough.  It is located in the center of the state.  The geographical center of Alaska is 60 miles northwest of Mount McKinley in the borough.  The center of the borough is 15 miles West-Southwest of Healy.  The borough is surrounded clockwise by Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Fairbanks North Star Borough, Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, and Matanuska-Susitna Borough.  The highest point in Alaska, Mount McKinley, is in the borough. 

The area of the borough is 12641 square miles.  It is 13 of 30 in size.  It ranks 26 out of 30 in population in the state.  It has a density of 0.13 persons per square mile making it 25 out of 30 in the state.  Denali Borough has 15.2% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Healy is located in the eastern half of the borough.  Anderson is in the northern quarter of borough.  Healy is the borough seat and Anderson is the largest city.  Anderson, the only incorporated city, is 13.5% of the borough population.  Interstate Highway A3 enters from the north, Fairbanks North Star Borough, and exits to the south, Matanuska-Susitna Borough.  The borough is pronounced DEE-NAL-EE.
