The tan brick courthouse for Twin Falls County was constructed in 1911.  It is sited at Shoshone Street and 4th Avenue.  United States Highway 30 is two blocks southwest of the building.  C. H. Smith was the designer of the Classical Revival courthouse.  A Judicial Annex was added in 1967.  The county was established on February 21, 1907 from Cassia County as the 23rd county and Twin Falls has always been the county seat.  The county and county seat are named for local falls on the Snake River. 

Twin Falls County government consists of a sheriff, a prosecuter, a coroner, a clerk, a treasurer, and an assessor (executive).  It has 3 Commissioners (legislative.)  Six Circuit Court Judges and Three Magistrate Court Judges serve Twin Falls, Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, and Minidoka counties (judicial.) The county is in southern Idaho on the border with Nevada.  Pocatello, Idaho is east and Boise, Idaho is northwest of the county.  The Snake River forms its northern border.  The county center is 24.9 miles Southwest of Twin Falls nearer Hollister.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Jerome and Cassia counties and Nevada and Owyhee, Elmore, and Gooding counties. 

The area of the county is 1925 square miles.  It is 13 out of 44 in the state.  It ranks 5 out of 44 in population in the state.  It has a density of 46.8 persons per square mile making it 9 out of 44 in the state.  Twin Falls County has 72.6% of its population in its incorporated areas.  United States Highway 30 crosses the county east to northwest from Cassia County to Gooding County.  United States Highway 93 goes north to south from Jerome County to Nevada.  The county is shaped like a water pitcher.  The City of Twin Falls is located on the northern border.  Twin Falls is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 57.5% of the county population.  This county is in the Twin Falls Micropolitan Statistical Area.
