A red brick Georgian courthouse was constructed 1975 at Main and Columbia streets.  Kentucky State Highway 80 is one block south of the location.  Wilson Bond and Associates are the courthouse architects.  A Judicial Center was added in 2010.  Veteran memorials are on the courthouse grounds and the structure features columns.  Pulaski County was created on December 14, 1798 from parts of Green and Lincoln counties as the 33rd county.  There was a classier 1874 courthouse in the county in Somerset, the only county seat.  The county is named for Count Kazimierz Pulaski of Revolutionary War fame.  The county seat is named for Somerset County, New Jersey.  Pulaski County was the birthplace of 1 Kentucky Governor, Edwin P. Morrow. 

Pulaski County government consists of a County Judge Executive, a sheriff, a clerk, an attorney, a treasurer, a coroner, and an appraiser (executive).  It has 5 Magistrates (legislative.)  Two Circuit Court Judges, Three District Court Judges, and One Family Court Judge serve Pulaski, Lincoln, and Rockcastle counties and a court clerk serves Pulaski County (judicial.) The county is in the southern part of the state.  Lexington, Kentucky is north and Bowling Green, Kentucky is west of the county.  The county center is 5.1 miles North of Somerset.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Rockcastle, Laurel, McCreary, Wayne, Russell, Casey, and Lincoln counties. 

The area of the county is 662 square miles.  It is 3 out of 120 in the state.  It ranks 14 out of 120 in population in the state.  It has a density of 98.2 persons per square mile making it 30 out of 120 in the state.  Pulaski County has 22.2% of its population in its incorporated areas.  United States Highway 27 goes north to south in the county from Lincoln County to McCreary County.  The county is a diamond shape.  Somerset is located slightly south of center in the county.  Somerset is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 18.3% of the county population.  This county is in the Somerset Micropolitan Statistical Area.
