The red brick Federalist structure, built in 1872, is at Court and Walnut streets.  United States Highway 62 passes one block to the south of the courthouse.  The architect is G. W. Williams.  The building was enlarged in the 1960’s and a Justice Center added in 2010.  The building features a tower and the grounds have veteran memorials.  The county was established on February 11, 1867 from parts of Bracken, Mason, Harrison, and Nicholas counties as the 112th county.  It is named for Congressman George Robertson.  The county seat is named for the Biblical location.  Mount Olivet has always been the county seat. 

Robertson County government consists of a sheriff, County Judge Executive, and 5 Magistrates.  One Circuit Court Judge, One District Court Judge, and One Family Court Judge serve Robertson, Harrison, Nicholas, and Pendleton counties.  Robertson County is in northern Kentucky.  Cincinnati, Ohio is northwest and Lexington, Kentucky is southwest of the county.  The county center is .7 miles South of Mount Olivet.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Bracken, Mason, Fleming, Nicholas, and Harrison counties. 

The area of the county is 100 square miles.  It is 120 out of 120 in the state.  It ranks 120 out of 120 in population in the state.  It has a density of 21.9 persons per square mile making it 117 out of 120 in the state.  Robertson County has 15.9% of its population in its incorporated areas.  United States Highway 62 goes east to west in the county from Mason County to Harrison County.  The county is shaped like a torch tilting toward the west.  Mount Olivet is located near the center of the county.  Mount Olivet is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 15.7% of the county population.
