The Modern tan and gray brick building was erected in 1959. It is located at the intersection of State Street and Main Street. United States Highway 601 is State Street in the town. Stinson-Arey-Hall are the building architects. Veteran memorials are on the grounds. An 1855 version of the courthouse was earlier in Yadkinville. Dowelton was the first county seat until 1855. Yadkin County was created on January 1, 1850 from Surry County as the 81st county. The county and county seat are named for the Yadkin River.

Twenty-one Superior Court Judges serve Yadkin, Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Cabarrus, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Orange, Rockingham, Rowan, Stokes, Surry, and Wilkes counties, One District Court Judges serves Yadkin, Alleghany, Ashe, and Wilkes counties and a court clerk serves Yadkin County (judicial.) The county is in the northwest part of the state. Greensboro, North Carolina is east and Charlotte, North Carolina is south of the county. The center of the county is 6.7 miles North-Northwest of Yadkinville near Boonville. The county is surrounded clockwise by Surry, Forsyth, Davie, Iredell, and Wilkes counties.
The area of the county is 338 square miles. It is 79 out of 100 in the state. It ranks 64 out of 100 in population in the state. It has a density of 110.1 persons per square mile making it 50 out of 100 in the state. Yadkin County has 19.1% of its population in its incorporated areas. Interstate Highway 77 goes north to south in the county from Surry County to Iredell County. United States Highway 21 parallels Interstate Highway 77 from Surry to Iredell counties. United States Highway 421 passes east to west from Forsyth County to Wilkes County. United States Highway 601 comes from Surry County, north, and Davie County, southeast. The county is an overall rectangle. Yadkinville is located in the southern third of the county. Yadkinville is the county seat and the largest city. It is 8.1% of the county population. This county is in the Winston-Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area.
