The masonry Beaux Arts and Classical Revival structure, built in 1900, is on Sandusky, Wyandot, Court, and 5th streets.  Ohio State Highway 199 is Sandusky.  The architects are Joseph Warren Yost and Frank L. Packard.  The building was renovated in 2015.  It features a domed tower with a working clock and Lady Justice.  There was also an 1849 courthouse in Upper Sandusky.  Perrysburg was the first county seat until 1893.  A County Office Building was added in 1976.  Wyandot County was founded on February 13, 1845 from parts of Marion, Crawford, and Hardin counties as the 80th county.  Wyandot County is named for the Native American tribe.  Upper Sandusky is a geographical term for its location on the Sandusky River. 

Wyandot County government consists of a sheriff and 3 Commissioners.  One Common Pleas Court Judge serves Wyandot County.  Wyandot County is in northern Ohio.  Toledo, Ohio is northwest and Columbus, Ohio is southeast of the county.  The county center is 2.5 miles Northwest of Upper Sandusky.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Seneca, Crawford, Marion, Hardin, and Hancock counties. 

The area of the county is 405.6 square miles.  It is 74 out of 88 in the state.  It ranks 82 out of 88 in population in the state.  It has a density of 54.0 persons per square mile making it 80 out of 88 in the state.  Wyandot County has 56.9% of its population in its incorporated areas.  United States Highway 23 travels through the county northwest to southeast from Seneca County to Marion County.  United States Highway 30 comes from Crawford County, east, and goes to Hancock County, west.  Wyandot County is an overall rectangular shape.  Upper Sandusky is located slightly south of center in the county.  Upper Sandusky is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 30.6% of the county population.  The county is pronounced WIEN-DOT.
