The Modern tan brick structure was built in 1969.  It sits at the corner of Ninth Street and Manvel (Oklahoma State Highway 66).  The previous 1907 courthouse is the only other facility since September 22, 1891 when the county organized therefore Chandler has been the only county seat.  Hudgins, Thompson, Ball and Associates are the architects.  An Annex supports the courthouse from 1967.  The county was formed from the Creek Nation as the 13^th county.  Lincoln County is named for President Abraham Lincoln.  Chandler was named for George Chandler, the first Assistant Secretary of the Interior.  Lincoln County is the birthplace of 1 Oklahoma Governor, Roy J. Turner. 

Lincoln County government consists of a treasurer, a sheriff, an assessor, and a clerk (executive).  It has 3 Commissioners (legislative.)  Four District Court Judges serve Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties and a court clerk serves Lincoln County (judicial.)  The county is between Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the southwest, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the northeast, in central Oklahoma.  The county center is in Chandler .8 miles Northeast of the city center.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Payne, Creek, Okfuskee, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, and Logan counties. 

The area of the county is 959 square miles.  It is 24 out of 77 in the state.  It ranks 30 out of 77 in population in the state.  It has a density of 34.9 persons per square mile making it 30 out of 77 in the state.  Lincoln County has 36.1% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Interstate Highway 44 crosses east to west from Creek County to Oklahoma County.  United States Highway 177 goes north to south from Payne County to Pottawatomie County.  United States Highway 377 originates in the county and travels south into Seminole County.  The county is rectangular shaped.  Chandler is near the county center.  Chandler is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 8.5% of the county population.  This county is in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
