Tonini and Bramblet designed the Neo-Classical shape of the 1921 courthouse.  It is located on a square on Main Street between Floral and Gladstone.  Main Street is United States Highway 183 and Gladstone is Oklahoma State Highway 5 passing through Frederick.  Veteran memorials are on the grounds.  This is the only courthouse in the county since its establishment on November 16, 1907 and Frederick has been the only county seat.  It was originally part of Comanche County as the 72nd county.  Benjamin Tillman, United States Senator from South Carolina, gave the county got its name.  Frederick was named for the son of a railroad executive. 

Tillman County government consists of a treasurer, a sheriff, an assessor, and a clerk (executive).  It has 3 Commissioners (legislative.)  Seven District Court Judges serve Tillman, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, and Kiowa counties and a court clerk serves Tillman County (judicial.)  The county is situated in southwest Oklahoma southwest of Lawton, Oklahoma.  Its southern border is the Red River and Texas.  The North Fork of the Red River is its western border.  The county center is 5.3 miles East of Frederick.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Kiowa, Comanche, and Cotton counties and Texas and Jackson County. 

The area of the county is 872 square miles.  It is 34 out of 77 in the state.  It ranks 64 out of 77 in population in the state.  It has a density of 8.0 persons per square mile making it 65 out of 77 in the state.  Tillman County has 82.1% of its population in its incorporated areas.  United States Highway 62 cuts across the very northwest top of the county from Kiowa County, east, to Jackson County, west.  United States Highway 70 crosses the southern part of the county from the east, Cotton County, then turning south into Texas.  United States Highway 183 goes north to south from Kiowa County, joins United States Highway 70, and exits into Texas.  It is shaped like a chair facing east with a footrest.  The river borders on the west and south curve back and forth.  Frederick is in the south and west part of the county.  Frederick is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 49.9% of the county population.
