The Modern tan brick 1998 courthouse replaced a traditional 1882 structure.  It is located on North 100 East Street at Center Street.  Utah State Highway 160 is one block to the west.  The current courthouse was built in 1998.  The building was designed by Abram Gillies.  A 1975 County Administration Building augments the courthouse.  Beaver County was created on January 5, 1856 from Iron County as the 12th county with Beaver as the only county seat.  The county and its county seat are named for the Beaver River. 

Beaver County government consists of a sheriff and 3 Commissioners.  Seven District Court Judges and Three Juvenile Court Judges serve Beaver, Iron, and Washington counties.  The county is located in southwest Utah.  Salt Lake City, Utah is northeast and Las Vegas, Nevada is southwest of the county.  The county center is 33.8 miles West of Beaver nearer Milford.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Millard, Sevier, Piute, Garfield, and Iron counties and Nevada. 

The area of the county is 2592 square miles.  It is 13 out of 29 in the state.  It ranks 24 out of 29 in population in the state.  It has a density of 2.56 persons per square mile making it 19 out of 29 in the state.  Beaver County has 81.9% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Interstate Highway 15 crosses north to south in the eastern part of the county from Millard County to Iron County.  The county is a rectangle with a chin sticking out of the southeast corner.  The City of Beaver is located in the southeast corner of the county.  Beaver is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 47.0% of the county population.
