The 1997 tan brick and masonry facility replaced the 1940 version.  There was also an 1896 courthouse.  The facility is on Washington Boulevard at 24^th Street.  United States Highway 89 is Washington Boulevard in the city.  Sanders Herman Architects and Jones/Richards & Associates combined for the designs.  An Administration Building supports the courthouse and a Family Courthouse is under construction in 2015.  Weber County was established on January 31, 1850 as an original county (6^th county) with Ogden as the only county seat.  It is named for trapper John Henry Weber.  The county seat is named for trapper Peter Skene Ogden.  Weber County is the birthplace of 2 Utah Governors, Herbert B. Maw and Olene Walker. 

Weber County government consists of a sheriff and 3 Commissioners.  Fifteen District Court Judges and Five Juvenile Court Judges serve Weber, Davis, and Morgan counties.  Weber County is in northern Utah.  Salt Lake City, Utah is south and Boise, Idaho is northwest of the county.  The county center is in Ogden 2.5 miles Northeast of the city center.  The county is surrounded clockwise by Cache, Rich, Morgan, Davis, Tooele, and Box Elder counties. 

The area of the county is 659 square miles.  It is 27 out of 29 in the state.  It ranks 4 out of 29 in population in the state.  It has a density of 350.89 persons per square mile making it 3 out of 29 in the state.  Weber County has 93.9% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Interstate Highway 15 crosses the county north to south from Box Elder County to Davis County.  Interstate Highway 84 enters from Davis County, south, and terminates.  United States Highway 89 parallels Interstate Highway 15 from Box Elder to Davis counties.  The county is shaped like a dagger pointing west.  Ogden is located near the geographical center of the county.  Ogden is the county seat and the largest city.  It is 35.8% of the county population.  The county is pronounced WEE-BUR.  The county seat is pronounced OG-DEN.  This county is in the Ogden Metropolitan Statistical Area.
