The 1997 tan brick and masonry facility replaced the 1940 version. There was also an 1896 courthouse. The facility is on Washington Boulevard at 24th Street. United States Highway 89 is Washington Boulevard in the city. Sanders Herman Architects and Jones/Richards & Associates combined for the designs. An Administration Building supports the courthouse and a Family Courthouse is under construction in 2015. Weber County was established on January 31, 1850 as an original county (6th county) with Ogden as the only county seat. It is named for trapper John Henry Weber. The county seat is named for trapper Peter Skene Ogden. Weber County is the birthplace of 2 Utah Governors, Herbert B. Maw and Olene Walker.

Ogden is located near the geographical center of the county. Ogden is the county seat and the largest city. It is 33.3% of the county population. The county is pronounced WEE-BUR. The county seat is pronounced OG-DEN. This county is in the Ogden Metropolitan Statistical Area.
