The Modern red brick courthouse was built in 2013. The courthouse is on Lee Street at Boulevard. Boulevard is United States Highway 1. Moseley Architects provided the courthouse designs. It features columns and a tower. The city was established on January 1, 1948 from Chesterfield County as the 116th county equivalent. Colonial Heights was named during the American Revolutionary where the colonists retreated from the Battle of Petersburg.
