The stately red brick Classical Revival courthouse in Flagler County was replaced in 2007 by a Modern concrete structure.  It is located at Moody and Commerce.  Florida State Highway 100 is Moody.  Spillis Candela DNUM designed the new concrete courthouse.  An Administration Center was added in 2006.  Railroader Henry Morrison Flagler inspired the county name.  Bunnell is named for settler Alva A. Bunnell.  The county was created on April 28, 1917 from parts of St. Johns and Volusia counties as the 53rd county.  Bunnell has been the only county seat. 

The area of the county is 485 square miles.  It is 60 out of 67 counties in the state.  It ranks 35 out of 67 in population in the state.  It has a density of 237.9 persons per square mile making it 30 out of 67 in the state.  Flagler County has 85.0% of its population in its incorporated areas.  Interstate Highway 95 goes north to south through the county from St. Johns County to Volusia County.  United States Highway 1 parallels Interstate Highway 95 from St. Johns County to Volusia County. 

Flagler County government consists of a manager, sheriff, and appraiser (executive).  It has 5 Commissioners (legislative.)  Twenty-five Circuit Court Judges serve Flagler, Putnam, Saint Johns, and Volusia counties and a County Court Judge, clerk, and county attorney serve Alachua County (judicial.) The county is located in northeast Florida on the Atlantic Ocean.  Jacksonville, Florida is north of the county.  The center of the county is 7.7 miles Northwest of Bunnell nearer Espanola.  The county is surrounded clockwise by St. Johns County and the Atlantic Ocean and Volusia and Putnam counties.  The county shape is a glass of foaming beer.  Bunnell is located near the center of the county.  Palm Coast is in the northeast corner of the county.  Bunnell is the county seat and Palm Coast is the largest city.  Bunnell is 2.9% of the county population while Palm Coast is 77.4% of the county population.  This county is in the Palm Coast Metropolitan Statistical Area.
