The Modern Style concrete and glass building was built in 1972. It is situated at Park and Fulton streets. United States Highway 17 is five blocks west of the site. Gutmann, Dragash, and Matz are the courthouse designers. It is situated on a lake. There was a 1913 version of the courthouse in Sanford since Sanford has been the only county seat. The center of the county is 8.9 miles South-Southwest of Sanford nearer Winter Springs. The county is surrounded clockwise by Volusia, Brevard, Orange, and Lake counties.
